To instantly increase happiness, increase positivity and decrease stress
you can do this when you're having a tough day when you're feeling a little or
when you're having a good day and you want to feel even better and for
me these three things always work they're also scientifically proven they're
easy to do they're totally free and you can do them whenever
so,
the first thing is is to stop what you're
doing and take 3 nice long deep conscious breaths the breath is such
a powerful tool and it's so important for our mental and physical health and
when we breathe in such a way a number of things happen when breathing
deeply taking in plenty of oxygen we cool our nervous system and stimulate it
to decrease the stress hormones cortisol and adrenaline thus reducing stress
and increasing calm it also stimulates our body to detoxify improves our
posture and releases endorphins which boost our mood and naturally
alleviate pain deep conscious breathing is a form of meditation of mindfulness
which promotes mental clarity and happiness and by focusing on the rhythm
of our breaths we get in here and now and out of our minds our thought world
which is causing us stress it only takes a few conscious deep breaths to
suddenly notice the warm sunlight through your windows the clouds in the sky
or the smell of your flowers on the coffee table it really is a wonderful
thing after taking your three breaths the next thing you do is think of something that you're grateful of,
it can be anything just really allow yourself to be happy and grateful about it
many studies regarding happiness have shown that gratitude is a wonderful way to increase happiness and reduce stress being conscious
about feeling content and grateful has a direct impact on our mood and if you're the type of
it after taking your three
breaths and practicing gratitude the last thing you do is you take your cell
phone and you place it somewhere in your home far away from where you
are preferably in another room or in a drawer and then leaving it there for at
least an hour now I am NOT anti cellphone or anything like that but we do
know that a lot of us spend a lot of time on our phones in fact there are studies
that show that ninety percent of us are addicted to our phones in one way or
another and while our phones offer us many good and fun things there are
also considerable upsides to limiting our cell phone use, for
example being hunched over our smartphone puts excessive stress on our
back and neck muscles which is bad for our posture and staring at the small
text and artificial lighting of your phone can also cause eye strain and even
headaches but the most important thing is that even
though we don't realize it always being connected is stressing us out there is
no moment's peace because our text messages and social media messages
follow us wherever we go and if you can read your work email on your phone
that's even more so looking at your phone really takes us out of reality out of
experiencing the present moment and into our thoughts and our worries by
taking a conscious break from all that by placing the phone away can really
help us to relax and come back to the here and now it helps to calm our mind
and therefore our body it's like taking a short vacation without the wifi.
